Multifunctional, with intelligent energy management
The MultiPlus is a powerful pure sine wave inverter, an advanced battery charger using adaptive charging technology, and a high speed AC transfer switch in a single compact package. Aside from these primary functions, the MultiPlus offers several advanced features, which are explained below.
Parallel and 3-phase operation possible
Up to six Multis can be connected in parallel if high power requirements are required.
Apart from the parallel connection, three units can also be configured for a three-phase output.
PowerControl – Working with limited generator power, limited shore or mains power
The Multi Control remote control panel can be used to set the maximum mains or generator current that can be drawn. The MultiPlus then takes other connected AC consumers into account and only uses the power that is "left over" for charging. This prevents the generator or shore power connection from being overloaded.
PowerAssist – “performance enhancement” of generators and shore connection support
This function gives the PowerControl principle a new dimension. It enables the MultiPlus to support alternative sources that are too weak. Load peaks often only occur for a limited period of time. In such a case, the MultiPlus ensures that insufficient shore power or generator power is immediately compensated for by energy from the battery. If the load is reduced, ie consumers are switched off, the energy that is then available again can be used to charge the batteries.
Four-stage adaptive charger and dual battery charging
The main output provides powerful charging of the battery system using advanced "adaptive charging" software. The software fine-tunes the automatic three-stage charging process to best suit the battery condition and adds a fourth stage for long periods in float mode. The adaptive charging process is described in more detail in the Phoenix charger datasheet and on our website under "Technical Information". In addition, the MultiPlus charges a second battery using an independent float charge output designed for a main engine or generator starter battery.
High inrush power
This is required to switch on loads with high inrush currents such as voltage converters for LED lamps, halogen lamps or power tools.
Search mode
When search mode is set to 'on', the inverter's power consumption is reduced by approximately 70% in no-load operation. In this mode, when the Multi is operating in inverter mode, it switches off at no load or at a low load and switches back on for a short period every two seconds. If the output current exceeds a set limit, the inverter resumes operation. If this is not the case, the inverter switches off again.
Programmable relay
In the basic setting, the multifunction relay acts as an alarm relay, i.e. it switches the device off in the event of a fault (device gets too hot, hum voltage at the input is too high, battery voltage is too low).
Remote controlled on/off switch/charger with a three-pin plug.
System configuration, monitoring and control on site
After installation, the MultiPlus is ready for use. Some settings can be changed using the DIP switches. 500/800/1200 VA models: remote switch / battery voltage / inverter frequency / search mode. 1600) 2000 VA models: battery charging voltage / search mode. For further settings, use VEConfig or the VE.Bus Smart Dongle.
Remote configuration and monitoring
Install a Cerbo GX or other GX products to connect to the Internet. Operational data can be stored and viewed free of charge on our VRM (Victron Remote Management) website. Once systems are connected to the Internet, they can be accessed remotely and settings can be changed.
